We are looking for experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 SLTs to join our friendly, dynamic and forward thinking service.

You will be joining our service at an exciting time as we have recently become an integrated OT/PT/SLT Children & Young People’s Therapies Service so there will be opportunities for joint working with a range of other professionals.

You will be working collaboratively within early years and school settings to provide assessment and therapy to meet the needs of children and young people in West Hertfordshire (Hemel Hempstead) and surrounding areas. There will also be an exciting opportunity to work in a special school for children with learning difficulties.

As part of our 3 tier balanced model of service delivery we are committed to developing the skills of the children and young people’s workforce. You will be involved in the delivery of our high quality training packages for school staff, parents and pre-school settings, often in conjunction with colleagues in education, for example Elklan, SCERTS and PCI.

What are the benefits of working for our team?

  • Regular group supervision, managerial supervision and a well-established appraisal system
  • CPD opportunities such as Bitesize tutorials, peer review and locally hosted CENs for DLD and ASD
  • Opportunities to develop leadership skills and to supervise less experienced members of staff
  • Being involved in local and service wide projects with your colleagues
  • Mobile working (e.g. own laptop and mobile phone)
  • Opportunities to work alongside other therapists and assistants to deliver our evidence based episodes of care to children requiring specialist support
  • You will have a 2 week induction period where you will have the opportunity to observe and shadow your team
  • In addition to the basic salary, this post attracts a High Cost Area Supplement of 5% of basic salary subject to a minimum payment of  £1,017 and a maximum payment of £1,762 per annum (pro rata where applicable).

We have an excellent reputation for the support we provide for new staff. Here’s what some of our new members of staff have said about joining our service:

“HCT is a lovely place to work”

“Induction has been organised with plenty of opportunities to observe and shadow a varied range roles and responsibilities  e.g. Play Talk group, initial assessments, home visits and therapy sessions”

“Members of the team were and continue to be, so friendly and supportive”

“I was quickly made to feel included through invites to book groups, socials, and having a buddy  assigned to support with non-clinical queries”

Apply now to be part of our friendly and innovative team!

Applicants wanting to work full time or part time will be considered.

A full valid driving licence and access to a car to use regularly for business purposes is essential (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).
